INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION - 24TH OCTOBER 2007

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION
- 24TH OCTOBER 2007

On October 24th Aung San Suu Kyi reaches a total of 12 years in detention.
There will be an international day of action focusing on
China.

China agreeing to the UN Security Council statement is a welcome step, but they
must drop their opposition to a Resolution requiring the release of all political prisoners, and use their influence to force the regime to the negotiating table with the NLD and ethnic groups.

Please organise a protest at the Chinese Embassy in your country on the 24th. The visual peg to grab media attention is to have everyone wearing Aung San Suu Kyi masks. Burma Campaign UK can supply a template for a mask for you to print and copy. We suggest sticking the pictures onto light card and sticking on small sticks of wood, like cheap chopsticks, so that people can hold the mask in front of their face.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you can organise a protest, so that we can let media know how many countries took part.

You can view a video of actions worldwide on the last global day of action,

(October 6th) on Burma Campaign UK's new YouTube video channel:
